A report we can act on includes:
- Your device and operating system, for example an Android phone, an iPhone, or a Windows laptop, and the system version if you know it.
- Your browser and its version, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. The version number is usually listed under About in the browser's menu.
- Which mode you used: Camera or Image.
- The exact error message the scanner showed, word for word, if there was one.
- Whether it happens with one code or every code. If one code fails and others work, the problem is usually that code. If every code fails, it is more likely the camera, a permission, or the browser.
Before writing, check the FAQ and the troubleshooting guide. Camera permissions, glare, and very small codes explain most failures.
What we cannot help with
So you do not wait for a reply that cannot fix the problem:
- Who made a code. We did not create the QR code you scanned, and we cannot tell you who did. A code holds only its content, not its author.
- Expired or broken codes. If a code points to a page that no longer exists or a short link that has expired, only its creator can fix it. We cannot recover the original destination.
- Third-party sites and apps. If a site you opened from a code blocks you or misbehaves, contact that site. We cannot unblock it or change how it works.
- Scams. If a code led you to a scam, report it to the organization shown on the code, to your bank if you entered payment details, and to your local authorities. The QR code safety guide covers the warning signs.
What to expect
Every message is read. Bug reports with the details above are the easiest to fix. We will not promise a response time we cannot keep, and email is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
